The Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH) and Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) co-organize the Researchers Night 2010 event, in Crete with the title “Technology and Environment”. The event takes place under European Union’s efforts to inform the society about the importance and role of research and researchers towards alerting the state for more systematic policy guidance, with emphasis on scientific research. As every year, the 2010 event will be held simultaneously in more than 200 European cities, while in Greece similar events will take place in Athens, Patras, Volos, Thessaloniki, and Heraklion.
In Crete, two parallel events will be held at Natural History Museum of Crete (Sofokli Venizelou Avenue -west of the port of Heraklion) and Cretaquarium/Thalassokosmos (former American Base at Gournes), Friday, September 24, 2010, at 17:00p.m. Entrance is free.
The aim of the organizers is to highlight the role and work of researchers in the community and present, especially to young people, potential job and career opportunities for researchers.
The visitors to parallel events will have the opportunity to be guided through the museum exhibition, and visit the premises of Cretaquarium/ Thalassocosmos and discussing with the researchers.
